Tuesday, March 17, 2020:

Governor Cooper issues executive order that closes restaurants and bars for dine-in customers beginning at 5:00 p.m. Takeout, curbside pickup and delivery orders are still allowed to continue.

Chowan County and the Town of Edenton declare a State of Emergency.

Originally scheduled for Friday May 1, this event has been postponed and has been rescheduled for Friday September 4th.



Town of Edenton:
Town Hall is closed, but is staffed.  Call 252-482-2155 with questions or for utility payments.

Chowan County Courts:
All regularly scheduled trial sessions of District Court, Superior Court, and Small Claims Court have been cancelled for at least 30 days, pending further review by authority of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina, The Honorable Cheri Beasley.  Chowan County’s Clerk of Superior Court Mike McArthur will provide notices by mail to those affected by these ‘continuances.’  Statutorily required hearings will be conducted.  His office may be contacted from 9am until 5pm at, (252) 368-5000

Chowan County Sheriff’s Office:
Regular Business Hours will be observed but be prepared to do business through the window.
No visitors will be allowed at the Chowan County Jail.
No fingerprint appointments will be made.

NC Works Career Center:  
Edenton-Chowan NCWorks Career Center located at COA Edenton is closed until further notice.

The Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library:
The library is currently closed.
Please keep your library materials at home until we reopen. Fines will not be charged during this time.

Chowan County Senior Center:
The Chowan Senior Center Congregate Nutrition Site is closed to the public however they will continue to offer pick up meals until further notice.
The Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) program will remain operational at this time.  Volunteers are needed.  Please call the Senior Center for more information at 482-2242.

Edenton-Chowan Recreation Department:
Due to the COVID-19 virus all recreation facilities are closed and programs suspended.


Atlantic Union Bank - Open normal hours - Lobby closed except by appointment - Drive through open

BB&T/Truist - Open normal hours - Lobby and drive through currently open

PNC Bank - Open normal hours -  Drive through currently open

Southern Bank - Open normal hours -Lobby closed except by appointment - Drive through open

State Employees Credit Union - Open normal hours - Lobby closed except by appointment - Drive through open



Most all restaurants are open at least on a limited basis doing takeout/delivery/pickup only.  Those still closed are The 51 House, 309 Bistro, Emilio's, and Garden Buffett.

Pizza Hut of Edenton:
Pizza hut in Edenton will be open for carry out only  Call ahead and pick up at our drive through window! 482-4406

 Old Colony Smokehouse:
Open at 11:00AM Tuesday - Saturday.  In full operation including fresh meats smoked daily with scratch made sides and hand made desserts. We'll continue to have our Ready Made and Ready Make coolers fully stocked with delicious, easy meals for your family to enjoy. We also plan to continue our Ready Now dinners. Lunch orders will be available by call-in or in-person ordering. We will offer curbside pickup for those who do not wish to enter the building. We will also offer free delivery within the Town of Edenton for orders of 10 or more plates. Feel free to stop by and place your order in person or call it in at 252-482-2400.

Waterman’s Grill:
Doing take out and curbside service starting at 4:30pm Monday-Saturday.  482-7733--if that is busy try 331- 3650.

Downtown Cafe' and Soda Shoppe:
Open 11am till 1:30pm for lunch.  Take out only.  252-482-8300

Edenton Coffee House:
Open and take out is available. If you or your business in Edenton is interested in lunch delivery please message us or call.

The Freeze:
Taking orders through call in or in the drive thru only.  Opens at 11am  482-2402

Nothin Fancy Café’:
Open daily 11am to 8pm for takeout orders! Call 252-482-1909

Governor’s Pub:
Serving takeout only.

Westover Store & Deli:
Accepting call in orders. Please, when you come to pick up your order, be quick in picking out chips & drinks. We have been diligently wiping down our counters, coolers & door knobs. This is how we plan to operate until further notice. 252-482-3323

Shun Xing:
Open for takeout.  Limited hours.  252-482-9999



Edenton Farmers Market:
Open on Wednesday's from 3-6PM, and Saturday's from 8AM until Noon.

Chowan Arts Council:
The Chowan Arts Council is closed, but is open by appointment.  Call 252-482-8005

Penelope Barker House Welcome Center:
The Penelope Barker House will reopen on May 19th, and the Trolley service will reopen on May 20th.  Contact them at 482-7800 with questions or to purchase an item.

Edenton State Historic Sites:
All tours of the Lighthouse, Courthouse, Cupola House, and Iredell House are suspended at this time.  The Visitor Center is closed to the public, but will be staffed.  They can be contacted at 482-2637
